Transcript

Host: Welcome to the segment called Introducing helpful tools and electronic services part of the Payroll Information for a New Small Business video.

I'm your host Janice Novak.

With me is Frank Stewart who will share with us, in this segment, information that he has obtained from the CRA on its helpful tools and electronic services.

Host: Welcome Frank. Does the CRA have many online services?

Subject matter expert: Thank you Janice. There are a wide variety of options for helping businesses deal with the CRA online.

Host: OK, so what's a good tool for accessing my business tax related information online?

Subject matter expert: My Business Account allows users to access detailed information on their business-related tax accounts, such as GST/HST, payroll, and corporation income tax.

Business owners can also file certain types of returns and request changes to their accounts.

For more information on business-related tax accounts, go to www.cra.gc.ca/mybusinessaccount.

Host: Now, you mentioned that My Business Account was for business owners. Is there a service that will permit an owner's representative to have access to the owner's business information?

Subject matter expert: Yes. Represent a Client allows someone other than the owner of a business to access the same detailed information on the business's tax-related accounts.

Owners can authorize their own employees or a third-party tax professional to have online access either through My Business Account or using Form RC59, Business Consent Form.

For more information on representatives, go to the CRA's webpage dedicated to Representatives at www.cra.gc.ca/representatives.

Host: In the segment of this video on payments, we also looked at My Payment. Can you remind us about that?

Subject matter expert: My Payment allows taxpayers to make a payment to the CRA using Interac Online from their accounts with participating financial institutions.

Unlike online business tax payments through your bank or financial institution, which often involve an additional fee, this is treated as a regular transaction.

For more information on participating banks and financial institutions, go to the CRA webpage www.cra.gc.ca/mypayment.

Host: Where can someone go to find information on all of the CRA's online tools and services?

Subject matter expert: For more information on all of the online CRA services available for businesses, go to www.cra.gc.ca/electronicservices.

There is also a CRA webpage for businesses where you can find a list of links to information, organized by tasks; such as paying, filing, calculating, and others. Go to the CRA webpage at www.cra.gc.ca/businessonline.

Host: Thank you Frank.

This concludes the segment on Introducing helpful tools and electronic services, part of the CRA's Payroll Information for a New Small Business video.

Thank you for watching.
