Parents and children
It is important to enter the child care expenses, the fitness, as well as recreation and children’s arts amounts into the profile of the dependant for whom the expenses were paid.
Enter the duration of the special case situation for federal child care expenses in the profile of the person with the highest net income.

For example, if you selected Babysitter:
- Enter the expenses that can be claimed in the federal tax return.
- Enter the expenses that can be claimed in the Quebec income tax return found in column E of the RL-24 slip.
- Enter the babysitter’s information (note that the SIN is required).
- If you have several receipts for the same child, click the back arrow between the Previous and Next buttons to return to the screen where you can choose the type of child care expenses you want to add for this child.
- Click Next.
UFile tip
The software automatically reduces the maximum amount that can be claimed for some child care expenses if they exceed the government-set limits.
In the case of a couple, UFile will determine which person will claim the child care expenses in their Quebec income tax return. For the federal tax return, UFile will claim the expenses in the tax return of the person with the lower net income, unless a special case exists.
- Click Fitness and recreation or Children's arts amount in the left-side menu.
