Notice to Excise Tax Licensees and Account Holders – New Version of Form B200, Excise Tax Return

On Monday, October 4, 2010, the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA) will introduce a new version of Form B200, Excise Tax Return, for reporting periods ending after September 30, 2010. A sample of the new version is attached to this notice.

On this new version of Form B200, all the commodities and the excise tax rate applicable to each commodity will be preprinted. For each commodity where excise tax is payable, filers will need to enter the quantity in the appropriate columns expressed in Quantity (litres) or Number of units before calculating and entering the amount of excise tax payable in the Tax Payable column. This will make it easier for filers to calculate and remit the correct Net amount payable (box 14).

Filers who currently receive a monthly personalized Form B200 at their mailing address (with their name, address and account number already printed on the form) will automatically receive the new version of the form for reporting periods ending after September 30, 2010.

On or after Monday, October 4, 2010, filers who have not yet received a personalized Form B200 by the time they have to file their return for a reporting period or persons who need to file an amended Form B200 for prior reporting periods will be able to print the new version of Form B200 from the CRA Web site at www.cra-arc.gc.ca/E/pbg/ef/b200/README.html.
