Are you eligible for the disability tax credit (DTC)?

Answer

You may be eligible for the DTC.

Take Form T2201, Disability Tax Credit Certificate, to a medical practitioner who can certify the effects of your impairment for you. If the medical practitioner certifies the form, send it to us for approval. We will review your form and advise you in writing if you are eligible for the DTC.

If you are eligible for the DTC, you may be able to claim the disability amount. For more information, see How to claim the disability amount?.

You have told us:

  • you receive life-sustaining therapy
  • the therapy meets both of the following criteria:
    • the therapy is needed to support a vital function, even if it eased the symptoms
    • the therapy is needed at least 3 times per week, for an average of at least 14 hours per week
