How much you can get
The Canada Recovery Benefit (CRB) provides benefit payments for each 2-week period you apply for between September 27, 2020 and October 23, 2021.
The CRA withholds a 10% tax at source on each payment you receive.
How much you receive per period
If you’re eligible, the CRB is available for a maximum of 27 periods (54 weeks).
You can only apply for periods that are open for application.
If you applied for CRB periods before July 18, 2021
Your CRB amount will reduce after you receive 21 payments.
Your first 21 payments: Option 1 of 2
$1,000 ($900 after taxes withheld) for each 2-week period until you reach 21 periods (42 weeks) or the CRB ends
After 21 payments: Option 2 of 2
$600 ($540 after taxes withheld) for each 2-week period until you reach the maximum 27 periods (54 weeks) or the CRB ends
If your first CRB period starts after July 17, 2021
You may receive $600 ($540 after taxes withheld) for each 2-week period until the CRB ends.
Changes to CRB amounts for period 22
Your CRB amount may change based on how many periods you've applied for, or if your first time applying for the CRB is for period 22 (July 18 to 31, 2021) or a later period.
Determine how much you receive per period
You will receive the reduced amount.
You may receive $600 ($540 after taxes withheld) for a 2-week period until the CRB ends (period 28).
You must file your 2019 or 2020 taxes before you can apply for the CRB.
Apply for your retroactive periods first to get the original amount.
If you are eligible for period 21 (July 4 to 17, 2021) or an earlier period, apply for those periods first. Periods remain open for 60 days after the period ends. You may receive $1,000 ($900 after taxes withheld) for each 2-week period until the CRB ends (period 28).
If the first period you apply for is period 22 (July 18 to 31, 2021) or later, you may receive $600 ($540 after taxes withheld) for a 2-week period. You must file your 2019 or 2020 taxes before you can apply for the CRB.
