Reduce the tax you may owe
You may qualify for deductions, credits and expenses to lower your tax amount.
Example: Basic personal amount (BPA)
The BPA is a non-refundable tax credit. You may claim both the federal BPA and your provincial or territorial BPA.
When claimed on your tax return, these credits reduce the tax you pay.
