Help with My Payment

How do I navigate through My Payment?

The My Payment application is divided into the following six steps:

Step 1. Select the payment you want to include in your transaction.

Step 2. Select where the payment should be applied or allocated.

  • You must choose one of the hyperlinks.
  • Once selected, My Payment will automatically go to the next step.

Step 3. Enter the payment details.

  • All fields must be completed correctly before you can go to the next step.
  • All field errors will be highlighted and remain on screen until they are corrected.

Step 4. Confirm the transaction details.

  • Payments can be modified, removed, or added as required.
  • You must confirm the transaction details before going to the next step.
  • Validation errors will be shown and remain on screen until they are corrected.

Step 5. Proceed to pay using Visa®Footnote 1 Debit or Interac ®Footnote 2 Online service.

  • Only the transaction total and the unique transaction number are transmitted to the payment provider.
  • No CRA account details are sent.

Note
The payment service provider allows up to 35 minutes from the time you leave the CRA site to the time you return to the CRA site to complete your payment transaction or you will have to start over.

Payment service provider

  • The payment service provider will securely provide you with the option to pay using the Visa network or Interac Online.
  • If you have a Visa debit logo on your bank card or a Visa debit logo with an Interac logo, you will choose the Visa option to make your payment. Complete the mandatory fields of: Cardholder Name; Card number; and Expiry Date (MMYY) and then click on the “Process Transaction” button. The funds will be debited from your bank account. You will then be directed back to the CRA for the confirmation page and receipt – Step 6 of 6.
  • If you have only an Interac logo on your bank card, click on the radio button beside Interac and click on the “Process Transaction” button. This will direct you to the Interac Online website where you click on your financial institution's secure site. Here you will use your existing sign-on credentials and make a payment to the CRA in the same way you would for any other bill payment using this service.
  • Once you authorize the funds transfer, you will be redirected back to your CRA My Payment session for the confirmation page and receipt – Step 6 or 6.

Step 6. Transaction receipt.

Once you are returned to the My Payment session, you will be on Step 6, the Transaction receipt.

  • For a "Transaction Approved", you will get a detailed receipt that will include both a unique CRA transaction number and the payment confirmation number. Please save or print the receipt for your files.
  • If your transaction was not successful, the receipt will show: NOT successful.
    • To try again, use the “Yes” button, or exit My Payment using the “No” button.

How do the navigation buttons work?

Using navigation buttons:

  • End session
    • Allows the user to terminate the session and go to the "Exit" page.
      • Selecting "Yes" terminates the session and redirects you to the CRA home page.
      • Selecting "No" returns you to the previous page.
  • Next
    • Allows you to go to the next step, if there are no errors on the page.
  • Previous
    • Returns you to the previous step but any information entered on the page you are leaving will be erased.
  • Add another payment
    • Allows you to add another payment to your My Payment summary.
  • Review and pay
    • Allows you a quick return to Step 4.
  • Confirm and proceed to pay
