Income threshold
An increase to the CVITP income thresholds will take effect when the upcoming filing season opens in February 2026. The new threshold amounts are reflected in all CVITP materials and products for the upcoming filing season.
Organization registration form
The online registration for organizations has been updated to include program terms and conditions. These must be accepted before the registration can be submitted.
Windows 11 upgrade
As of October 2025, Windows 10 operating system (OS) is no longer receiving security updates, making devices vulnerable to cyber-attacks and potentially leading to security breaches.
To keep your system secure, upgrade your CVITP computer or laptop to Windows 11.

Dedicated helpline for volunteers – New hours of operation
The CVITP dedicated helpline for volunteers is available year-round during the set hours below:

EFILE
EFILE transmission services are open for transmission on February 23, 2026.
Important note
Starting in February 2026 EFILE will only be available for the current tax year and the seven previous years. For more information on EFILE, refer to CRA electronic services - EFILE.
EFILE number
If you intend to file returns electronically, you will need an EFILE number.
If you do not intend to electronically transmit returns, with or without using Auto-fill my return (AFR), please do not apply for an EFILE number or renew your EFILE account.
Failure to comply with this requirement could result in the suspension of your EFILE number.
ReFILE
ReFILE transmission services are open for transmission on February 23, 2026.

CRA sign-in services – locked account
If you are locked out of your CRA account, it is no longer mandatory to contact the CRA to get your account unlocked. Instead, you can also regain access by completing the online registration process again to create a new sign-in. However, in some cases you may still need to contact the CRA to regain access.
